A biker was arrested by the Gamdevi police for allegedly snatching the camera from a 79-year-old architect and dragging him 500 metres.

According to Mid-Day, the accused has been identified as Kamlesh Tiwari (42). The incident took place on February 14, when Jaal Rustom Maurya (79), a resident of Cumbala Hill, was going to Gamdevi Police station with a friend, Kishor Desai (82). During this, a biker, who was coming from Peddar Road, dashed into their car, after which an altercation ensued.

Maurya told the leading daily, “We told the biker we would take him to a hospital, but he told us he was in a hurry for an exam and gave us his mobile number and we took a photo of his licence.” In the meanwhile, a third biker intervened and told Maurya he was a reckless driver. After they got into an altercation, Maurya took a picture of him, after which the biker snatched Maurya’s camera and sped off on his bike. As Maurya was holding on to the camera, he fell on the road and was dragged 500 metres.

Maurya sustained bruises on his hands and legs. Later, Maurya and his friend approached Gamdevi Police and gave the biker’s vehicle number. Based on Maurya’s complaint, the cops arrested the biker, who told cops that he was scared and didn’t want to get into any trouble, hence he ran off with the camera.
