Mumbai Crime: Autorickshaw driver kills wife with hammer over suspected illicit relationship

In a shocking incident, on Friday a 44-year-old autorickshaw driver for allegedly murdering his 40-year-old wife with a hammer after he suspected his wife of having an illicit relationship.

According to the Hindustan Times, the accused has been identified as Suresh Kumar Prajapati. The incident took place on Thursday around 11.30 pm at MIDC in Andheri (East). It happened after Prajapati accused his wife, Nagina Prajapati, of adultery which led to an argument between them. The argument soon went wrong, when in a fit of rage, Prajapati attacked his wife with a hammer.

During the incident, one of the two children, a nine-year-old, who was asleep, came out to check what happened. Later the accused told the nine-year-old that he killed their mother. The couple was married since 1991 and had four children, two of whom stay in their hometown in Uttar Pradesh.

Later after the incident, Suresh Kumar Prajapati surrendered to the police informing them that he had killed his wife in a fit of rage. A team of police officials went to spot where the incident took place and later registered a case under section 302 (murder) of the IPC.
