Mumbai Crime: Arrested 22-year-old son of retired cop learnt to steal bikes from YouTube

A 22-year-old youth, who is said to be the son of a retired cop, was arrested by the Malad police in a serial bike theft case. The cops have recovered nine motorbikes from the accused, who learnt the method of unlocking bikes without using keys from YouTube videos.

According to Mid-Day, the accused were identified as Avinash Ashok Kashid (22) and Rupesh Rajendra Ghadashi (21). It was revealed during investigation that Avinash is the son of a retired cop, Ashok Kashid. During interrogation, it was revealed that Kashid was the mastermind behind this.

Avinash and Rupesh are friends and both are second-year B.com in a Malad-based College. During investigation, Avinash told cops that he learnt to break the locks of Activa bikes from YouTube videos and told his friend about it. Avinash sold the bike which he stole with the help of his friend, and after a successful first steal, he went on a stealing spree. One of the stealing incidents was caught on CCTV after which the cops started an investigation. After this, they arrested the accused and, during interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime of stealing ten Activa bikes from Malad and Kandivali area.
