As the Lok Sabha election 2019 comes closer, police is doing everything they can to keep the violence as low as possible. Recently, police arrested Shivaji Shinde who has been in the wanted list of Mumbai police for more than 30 years. Shinde joined the list when he was booked in 1985 for procuring arms. However, before police could catch him, he vanished in thin air.
Talking to Mid-Day, Akbar Pathan, DCP detection said, “Shinde was booked for procuring arms in the year 1985 and was then arrested by the Crime Branch. However, after 1987, he stopped attending the court proceedings and soon absconded going off the radar.” Mumbai Police recently received a tip about Shinde’s whereabouts in Andheri. Crime Branch then formed a team to verify Shinde’s identity.
Talking about the same an officer said, “The Killa court then issued a standing non-bailable warrant against Shinde and when we received information on his whereabouts, tracked him down and interrogated him. Shinde was also involved in social work to keep away suspicion and doubts.” After the arrest, officers checked Shinde’s old records. There they found that he was using many different techniques to misguide cops.
