Mumbai Crime: 41-year-old man arrested for raping mentally-challenged woman in tempo

In a shocking incident, a 41-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a mentally-challenged woman in a tempo in Andheri.

According to DNA, the accused has been identified as Arvind Gupta (41). The accused raped the woman after asking her to accompany him in his tempo. He then took her to a deserted place late at night and raped her inside the vehicle. The cops have said that the 30-year-old woman would wander outside due to her mental condition. On the day of the incident, the victim was sitting outside her residence, that is when the accused approached her and started talking to her.

Later, after convincing the victim, the accused roamed in the locality away from the victim’s residence. Late in the night, Gupta took his tempo to a deserted place and raped her. After committing the crime, Gupta dropped the victim outside her residence and fled away. The next day when the victim’s family came to know about the incident they registered a complaint. After the complaint was lodged, the police scrutinised CCTV footage of the locality. The cops located Gupta and arrested him from MIDC area. Gupta is a daily wager by profession and works in a godown. The cops have booked Gupta under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
