Mumbai Crime: 13-year-old girl raped for seven months by four; three arrested

On Sunday, three men were arrested by Shantinagar police for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl for seven months in Bhiwandi.

According to Hindustan Times, the 13-year-old girl was raped by four men between June and December last year. The main accused is a cosmetic shop owner. The girl’s ordeal started in June last year. Back then, the minor used to visit the accused’s shop often. Taking advantage, the accused took the girl home and raped her. Later, the accused called up three of his accomplices to rape the girl. This went on for seven months, where the four accused took the girl to different locations and raped her.

The 13-year-old girl didn’t complain as the accused had threatened to kill her father. This started affecting the mental health of the girl and recently her mother noticed. Later, when the girl’s mother enquired, she (13-year-old girl) narrated her entire ordeal. “The family then registered a complaint on Friday. The accused were arrested on Sunday. However, the fourth accused is absconding,” an officer from Shantinagar police station told the leading daily. The three accused were booked under Sections 376, 354, 349, 506 and 34 of IPC and under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. And the police are on the lookout for the fourth accused who is still absconding.
