Mumbai Crime: 13-year-old girl gang-raped in Malad; police suspect four out of six accused are minors

On Tuesday, a 13-year-old girl was gang-raped in Malad. The police have booked six people in the case and they suspect that four of them are minors. The cops have caught two them, including a minor.

According to Mid-Day, the incident took place on Tuesday when the girl was returning home from a party. The girl had gone to Lahugarh Damnagar, near the National Park, with 2 boys and a girl who are her friends. Later they called her to join a party, the girl went to the party at around 8 pm and saw there were other people with her friends (in all five persons). They allegedly gave her a drink which was spiked and then raped her in turns.

When the girl failed to return home, her mother began searching for her. The girl arrived home at around 11.20 pm her mother asked her where she had been but the girl refused to speak. In the morning, her mother took her to a doctor as she was bleeding from her private parts. The doctor insisted on knowing what had happened and even threatened to take her to the police, after which the girl revealed the truth.

Later girl’s parents lodged a complaint at Samtanagar police on Wednesday night, after which the police immediately registered the FIR and caught the two accused, including the minor, who is around 15-years-old. The cops registered a case under Section 376 (D) (raped by one or more persons constituting a group or acting in furtherance of a common intention) and various Sections of POCSO Act.
