Mumbai: City records 635 cases, highest since July 7

There was a significant rise in the number of Covid cases on Wednesday as the city recorded 635 fresh Covid cases, taking the cumulative tally to 729,250. This is said to be the highest since July 7, 2021, when 664 cases were reported. As many as 10 deaths were reported on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 15,654, the BMC data stated. The cases reported on Wednesday were the highest since July 7, 2021, when the city reported 664 cases.

On Tuesday the city reported 441 cases and eight deaths, while on Monday the number of cases reported were 478 and nine deaths.

With 8,602 new cases on Wednesday, Maharashtra’s tally reached 6,181,247 cases so far. As many as 170 people succumbed to the virus in 24 hours, taking the state’s death toll to 126,390.

The daily infections in Maharashtra have remained above the 7,000-mark for the past two days.
