As many as 35 people were rescued and safely evacuated by the Mumbai Fire Brigade after the ceiling of the Afsra building at Shahid Bhagat Singh Road in Mumbai's Fort area collapsed on Friday.
The incident caused panic amongst the residents and workers working in the building. No injuries have been reported in the incident.
"Some part of the third-floor ceiling collapsed, owing to which the staircase was blocked. Nobody was injured but people were trapped after the debris of the collapsed ceiling blocked the staircase," said an official from BMC's disaster management unit.
According to the officials, the incident took place during repair work of building by MHADA.
