Mumbai: At a time when people hardly care for each other, a 13-year-old boy went out of his way to help a canine. The boy, a resident of Antop Hill area, saved the life of a stray dog, who could have otherwise drowned in a nullah. The boy—Santosh Devendra, a student of Guru Nanak School—was going out to play with his friends on Sunday morning. On his way, he came across a stray dog, lying in a nullah and struggling to come out of it.
“When I returned home around 4 pm the dog was still lying in the nullah and was struggling. He could not come up because the water was constantly flowing in the nullah and his attempts to come out proved futile due to the slippery surface,” Santosh told Free Press Journal.
The child was hurt by the attitude of people in his vicinity, who seemed least bothered. “I observed that no one came forward to help the struggling dog. I made a call to the fire department, and within a few minutes, the officers reached the spot. Then, they took the dog out safely,” added Santosh.
