Mumbai: To resolve the issue of daily traffic snarls at Juhu and in view of the road widening work on Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Marg, the BMC is reportedly seeking to acquire approximately nine feet of the land between Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow ‘Prateeksha’ and Satyamurthy Residency.
It has been decided to widen the existing 45 feet footpath to 60 feet. The bungalows of KV Satyamurthy and Amitabh Bachchan lie on the junction of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Marg. So, the BMC has decided that it requires the tract between these two bungalows and has accordingly issued notices to both Bachchan and Satyamurthy. The former, it is understood, is yet to reply.
The minute he received the notice, Satyamurthy rushed to the Bombay High Court but could not obtain a stay order, which is why BMC has begun its process of land acquisition. Along with ‘Prateeksha’, Bachchan has four other bungalows, approximately valued at Rs 300 crore. He has also purchased a bungalow ‘Ashiana’ for grand-daughter Aaradhya.
