Mumbai: The baby crocodile, which had sneaked into the civic-run swimming pool at Dadar, didn't venture from the nearby M/s Marine Aqua Zoo, confirmed the report submitted by the forest officers. On October 3, the two-feet-long reptile had crawled into the Mahatma Gandhi swimming pool, and was spotted by a sanitation worker.

After the incident, the BMC had alleged that the baby croc had come into the facility from the private zoo, but it had denied the charge. The civic body had even lodged a complaint, prompting the forest department to initiate a probe.

Accordingly, the forest officers investigating the matter scanned the CCTV footage submitted by the zoo, and couldn't link the crocodile's entry into the pool with the zoo. They had also asked the pool authorities to submit the CCTV records, however, they didn't give the visuals of the day as well as night.

A forest officer said that the zoo has a license to keep exotic birds, but it doesn't have a permission to keep wild animals. “We went through the footage multiple times. As it could not be established that the crocodile had gone from the zoo, we have not initiated any action against its owner,” told the officer. In the footage, the creature can be found crawling on the road in the dead of night. “I have submitted the report to senior officers, now they will decide the future course of action,” added the officer.
