Mumbai: AC Local to run on Western Railway

The AC local train which is just sitting in Kurla car-shed, will now run on Western Railway. The speculations on whether it will run Central or Western railway was going for a long time now, finally the all speculations have come to end.

As reported by Lokmat, the AC local will run on Western Railway. Western Railway has given a green signal for AC local. A proposal for the same has been sent to Railway Board, said Western Railways Manager Mukul Jain.

The AC local which has been just sitting for past seven months in Central Railways, Kurla car-shed. This 12 coaches AC local costs around Rs 55 crore. The AC rake, can seat 1,028 commuters and carry close to 6,000, including standees. Like the Metro, it allows commuters to walk from one coach to the next through vestibules. It has two sets of inter-connected bogies, each comprising six coaches. This AC local arrived from the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, on 5 April since then the AC local is just sitting in the car-shed for 7 months.

After solving all its technical problems and after trail run inside and outside Kurla shed, Central Railway came across a major problem that is less height of over head bridges and over head wiring. After which Central Railway requested Railway Board to run AC local on Western Railway. After this proposal a trail run on Western Railway took. Western railway has ambitiously going to send a report to railway Board saying that any technical difficulties will be dealt with. Western Railways Manager Mukul Jain, has mentioned in its report that there were no problems in trail run between Churchgate to Virar.

Problems Western Railway will face:

Technical difficulties between Churchgate-Bandra corridor.

The less height of over head bridge at Mahim and Matunga.

Over head wiring problem due less height near Mahalaxmi.

AC local is sitting in car-shed, to take trail run out-said car-shed permissions are need from RDSO (Research Design and Standard Organisation) and other official railway committees.
