Mumbai: 35-year-old man dies after iron scaffolding falls on him

A 35-year-old died on Sunday night after he was badly injured when iron scaffolding near the GST office in Parel fell on him last Thursday.

According to Mid-Day, the deceased was identified as Rahul Saraf who is Director of Maxgrow India Pvt Ltd. The family of Saraf donated his organs and the last rites were performed on Monday. The incident took place on June 13 afternoon when Saraf was visiting the GST office in Parel in connection with an offence registered against him in December 2018. When Saraf was entering the building, the iron scaffolding near the building came crashing on him.

Saraf was badly injured after the scaffolding fell on him. Seeing that the scaffolding came crashing on Saraf, the onlookers rushed to help and he was taken to KEM Hospital. On June 14, Saraf was declared brain dead and was put on ventilator and on Sunday he was declared dead. A friend of Rahul told Mid-Day, "As per the wishes of his family, his heart, kidneys, liver and lungs were donated." The police are investigating the matter and filed an FIR. After Saraf's death, the cops have added 304A (death due to negligence) section in the offence. The cops have not made any arrests so far.
