In a bizarre incident, a 32-year-old man allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming poison outside the office of the Mumbai Police crime branch on Sunday. The man tried to consume poison after he was not paid salary for two months.

According to the Indian Express, the man was identified as Gulab Singh. He worked as a driver for a constable posted at Unit 7 of the crime branch, located in Ghatkopar West. The cops have said that the constable paid Singh remuneration for his services each month. But, Singh alleged that for the last two months he had not received his salary. Even after repeatedly pleading the constable for his salary, he did not receive it.

Singh, on Friday, visited the constable’s residence and asked him to clear the dues, but the constable did not give Singh his pending salary. Singh then went to Ghatkopar police station to register a complaint but they allegedly did not entertain his complaint. In the evening on Sunday, Singh went to crime branch and allegedly tried to commit suicide outside the crime branch office. He was later admitted to ICU in Rajawadi Hospital. The police have not registered a complaint against the constable yet. A crime branch official told the leading daily that an internal inquiry is underway in the matter.
