Mumbai: 27-year-old farmer tries to commit suicide outside Mantralaya

On Monday afternoon, a 27-year-old farmer tried to commit suicide by attempting to set himself on fire outside Mantralaya. The farmer was burdened with a loan, and thus tried to end his life but was saved by the police.

According to DNA, the 27-year-old farmer was identified as Vinayak Balasaheb Vedpathak who hails from Osmanabad district. The incident took place at around 12.45 pm when Vinayak had come to one of the entry points of Mantralaya. Vinayak, who was carrying kerosene with him, suddenly poured it on himself.

After pouring kerosene, he tried to set himself on fire, but the police overpowered him and stopped him. Later, Vinayak was taken to Marine Drive police station for questioning. The cops have so far found out that Vinayak had taken a loan and was stressed about it.
