Mumbai: Sleuths of the Thane (rural) police have arrested a 20-year-old garage mechanic in Bhayandar on alleged charges of repeatedly raping and impregnating a 19-year-old teenager under the false promise of marriage. According to the police, the accused who has been identified as Zaheer Mohammed Khan (20) befriended the girl last year and established physical relationships with her on multiple occasions under the pretext of marrying her.
When the girl told him about her pregnancy the accused not only went back on his promise but also forced her to consume contraceptive pills for abortion. Following a complaint, a team from the Navghar police station arrested the accused on Sunday and booked him under sections 376 (rape) and 313 (causing miscarriage with woman’s consent) of the IPC.
