Mumbai: 20-year-old dies after falling from overcrowded local between Dombivli and Kopar

Dombivli: A 20-year-old died after falling from an overcrowded local train between Dombivli and Kopar railway stations, during rush hour on Wednesday morning. The victim, identified as Nitendra Yadav, used to reside in Gograswadi, Dombivli (E). The incident occurred on Wednesday at 9.30 am, as Yadav was on his way to work in Mumbai.

Dombivli GRP officials said, “Yadav tried to board an overcrowded train and could not enter the compartment. He was hanging from the footboard, when his hand slipped and he fell before Kopar railway station.”On seeing Yadav fall, other commuters raised an alarm and those inside the compartment pulled the chain and informed the motorman, who then contacted the Dombivli Government Railway Police (GRP). Acting on this information, the local GRP officials rushed Yadav to Shastri Nagar hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
