Mumbai: 14-year-old girl commits suicide after being scolded by mother over mobile addiction

On Sunday, a 14-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself in Mumbai’s Bhoiwada after being scolded by her mother for her addiction to mobile phone.

According to the Asian Age, the girl succumbed to her injuries following three-day long treatment. The girl’s family has said that the girl would be glued to her mobile phone, watching as well as uploading videos using a popular video-editing app. Owing to this, her mother scolded her on January 10. The girl, extremely upset, went into the bathroom and hung herself to the ceiling.

When she did not come out for a long time, the family members broke the bathroom’s door to find her hanging from the ceiling, though alive. She was rushed to the government-run KEM hospital. The 14-year-old girl was being treated for the severe strain on throat owing to the hanging. But she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday during treatment. The cops have now filed an accidental death report in the case.
