Mumbai : “It is a contrast that we have exhibited our strength by sending satellite on Mars and on other hands several our fellow people are still defecating in open premises. If we mean India to be a super power, everyone should inculcate the habit of cleanliness,” said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, addressing students of the University of Mumbai who had assembled for a cleanliness drive on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.

“When the students in such number come on the street, revolution is bound to happen,” he told the gathering at the Fort campus of the university on Friday. He waived a green flag to inaugurate the student rally for Cleanliness and Peace in which an estimated 400 students from various colleges and university departments participated.

The rally started from the university and participants equipped with brooms and pots lead the rally to Azad Maidan.

Addressing the students, University of Mumbai Vice Chancellor Dr Sanjay Deshmukh said: “University of Mumbai has always taken various initiatives for social causes and will continue to do so in future too.” He said that university is committed to knowledge and wisdom as also for social causes and development.
