Mumbai : The monorail timings will be extended from 8 pm to 10 pm from Friday, but the commuters will have to find their way after getting off the monorail at Wadala station thanks to no bus services by the BEST. As there are no demand from the commuters bus services between Wadala monorail station to nearby railway station has not been started, said BEST official.
The area around Wadala depot, with the highway on one end and slums on both sides, is an apt location for drug addicts and anti-social elements.
There are no buses connecting the Wadala railway station and the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Nagar railway station to the mono station. Despite Pratiksha Nagar BEST depot, a five minutes walking distance from the monorail station, there are no buses to cover this distance. A commuter either has to walk after getting off at Pratikha Nagar bus depot or hire a taxi from Wadala depot to the mono station. Victor Nagaonkar, head of BEST traffic department, said, “There are no buses from these railway stations as there is no demand from the commuters. There has been no commuters’ organisation demanding buses. Even if we get 10 regular commuters, we would run buses,” he assured.
