Mumbai: The postmortem report states a lady smothered her children with a pillow before she hanged herself from the ceiling fan at her BEST staff quarter in Parel, and a suicide note was found on her. She was frustrated and was unable to handle her life due to depression.

She was stressed over children’s survival without her, as they were mentally-challenged. According to police, Ritika Kamerkar (37), the wife of a BEST bus conductor, ended her life on February 26, by hanging herself from the ceiling fan. Police found a suicide note stating she was depressed. She had been anxious and could not ‘secure’ the future of her two kids—a teenager and a four-year-old son—both mentally-challenged.

The deceased left three suicide notes—one for husband, one for brother and one for police, and held no one responsible for taking the extreme step. Earlier, police had registered an ADR and were probing all aspects. The autopsy report confirmed the woman strangled the kids with a pillow before ending her life.
