Mumbai : The Dadar police on Thursday acquired the CCTV footage of the Stephen High School on Thursday to find out if the alleged molestation had happened in the school at the hands of the principal and a staff teacher of the school. They also examined the premises and the classrooms.
The police is also going to record the statement of a 19-year-old girl who was named by the complainant, a 13-year-old deaf and mute girl as one of the other six victims, sources confirmed. The school, which is more than two decades old has never had such a case before.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5), Dhananjay Kulkarni confirmed the school’s clean slate and said, “The school does not have a history of criminal offences.”
The school, which is near Siddhivinayak temple in Prabhadevi, now has its gates always closed. When this reporter visited the school, the watchman refused to let her in. None of the representatives of the school were ready to give a statement. When asked for a reason for their refusal, they said, “The police has asked us not to talk to anyone.”
The principal and the teacher, Brother G Lourdu Reddy (42) and Dattakumar Patil (37) have both been placed in police custody till July 7. According to the complaint filed on July 1, the principal would call the girl to his cabin, give her chocolates and perform inappropriate acts.
The teacher, too, would take her to deserted spots and show her pornographic pictures.
A person, who was exiting the school said, “The principal has been here for the past five to six years.” He however refused to disclose his identity or give any other information about the school.
