Mumbai : After two Bombardier trains, the third train with modification is all set to be included in the fleets of trains on Western Railway (WR)  in another week after it reached Virar on Wednesday. The train had departed from Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai on July 16 and took six days to reach the city.

The third train which had arrived is different from the two prototype trains in terms of their grab pole and handles inside the train compartments. The two prototype trains were fixed with a hexagon shaped grab pole at the door of the train which commuters complained obstructing the entry and exit. The hexagon shaped grab pole has been replaced with a single rod shaped pole similar to that of the Siemens rake.

While another change that had been made with the third train is the grab handle within the compartment had been made of steel. The prototype had plastic handle which allowed two commuters to catch one handle but this had been replaced with the conventional handles. The third rake was expected to reach in June but was delayed by a month and only one train reached out of the expected two.  The train is a part of 72 trains that Mumbai will get as a part of Mumbai Urban Transport Project-II (MUTP). Mumbai is expected to get 30 such trains by the end of 2015 and another 40 by December 2016.
