MLA Mahesh Baldi has demanded the installation of street lights in Tara, Karnala Bird Sanctuary, and the service road of Palsape from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). He met officials of the Panvel unit of NHAI and handed over a letter to the official.

Earlier, former Sarpanch of Karnala Gram Panchayat Raju Patil and former Deputy Sarpanch Vidyadhar Joshi demanded the installation of street lights along the service road of Tara near Karnala Bird Sanctuary in Panvel.

Raju Patil says that there is complete darkness soon after dusk and it becomes impossible for a pedestrian to walk. Even motorists have to struggle to drive during the night.

In a letter of demand, MLA Baldi said that the religious palki ceremonies are taken out by the local villagers along the service roads of Tara, Karnala sanctuary, Chinchwad and Palaspe and it is very inconvenient for the drivers to drive at night. This is also the reason for the increasing number of accidents. Therefore, street lights should be installed on both sides of the place and immediate action should be taken, he added.
