Further tightening their screws on the drug mafia, the anti-narcotics cell (ANC) and the crime branch unit attached to the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police, have achieved a major success in busting an entire supply chain run by a drug cartel by apprehending three people including a drug peddler, middleman and the actual supplier of the consignment in Mira Road.
A patrolling team from the ANC spotted a suspicious looking man loitering near a bus stop outside a fast food joint in the Kanakia area of Mira Road. After the person identified as- Farhad Kamru Bishwas (19) failed to give satisfactory replies to the questions posed by the police personnel, he was taken into custody and upon frisking was found to be in possession of five grams of Mephedrone drug also known as MD worth Rs. 40,000.
His questioning under the guidance of DCP ( Crime)- Dr. Mahesh Patil provided further links to the team led by Police Inspector's- Vijay Chavhan and Vilas Kute who arrested two others including the middleman-Akeel Ahmed Ansari (22) and the supplier-Arbaaz Nisaar Khan alias Kaasim who was found to be in possession of another 271 grams MD worth Rs. 21, 68000. The total value of the seized drugs is pegged at Rs. 22, 08,000.
Meanwhile an offence under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 has been registered at the Mira Road police station against the trio. Further investigations were on.
