Special strike forces, video surveillance to keep tab on trouble mongers and bogus voting
Bhayandar : The Mira Road division of Thane (rural) police and district election machinery have chalked out an elaborate plan to ensure a peaceful, fair and trouble-free elections in Mira Bhayandar region.
The multi-tier security system will have 350 police personnel from local police stations, one company of the Central Reserve Police Force, two platoons each from the State Reserve Police Force and Riot Control unit, 150 Home Guards, 50 Forest Guards and an unit of the Quick Response Team.
“If any law and order problem arises in any part of the city, adequate policemen will reach the spot within a few minutes. While static surveillance teams have been deputed at each and every polling station, the election personnel in and around the booth premises have been armed with video cameras to capture any attempts of violence, intimidation or foul play by trouble makers,” revealed SDPO Subash Bawache.
Although no polling booths have been identified as sensitive, the state election machinery is taking no chances. Apart from this, a huge deployment of security personnel, 12 Mobile Task Force units comprising eight police personnel and eight striking forces led by the senior PIs and three on-duty SDPOs will conduct patrolling in the region.
