Mumbai :  The Wadala TT police on Wednesday arrested two bothers from the MHADA colony in Wadala for allegedly raping two of their minor sisters on several occasions in the past four years.

The incident came to light after the two sisters, aged 13 and 17, confided in their neighbour about the ordeal. The neighbour then took the girls to the Wadala TT police station after which a case had been registered against the two brothers.

Police sources said that the sisters live in the MHADA colony behind the Bhakti Park complex in Wadala with their parents and eight other siblings including the two brothers. The 17-year-old girl has alleged that the two brothers have been raping her for the past four years while the 13-year-old girl has alleged that they started sexually assaulting her since the past two months.

“The sisters have told us that they had initially confided in their mother about their brothers’ wrongdoings. However, she had not paid heed to her daughters’ complaints. We will verify the same and arrest her too for negligence. We are awaiting the medical reports to be able to confirm contents of the case,” said a police official.
