Mayor’s diktat to best union: Withdraw case, and get Rs 100 crore

Last month, in the meeting of the group leaders across the party in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), a decision to give a financial help of Rs100 crore to Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport.

Mumbai: Last month, in the meeting of the group leaders across the party in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), a decision to give a financial help of Rs100 crore to Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport and Undertaking (BEST) till the budget gets merge with BMC budget.

Before sanctioning the money, the BMC wants the approval of the BEST unions to withdraw the case against the body. According to the Mayor Vishwanath Mahdeshwar, a tripartite agreement will be signed amongst the BEST, BMC and the union.

The BEST, which is also part of the BMC, is currently running into losses. Since long, the BEST had been demanding merger of the BEST budget in the BMC budget, so that they can overcome the financial crisis so that the employees would get salary on time, clearing the dues of the retired employees etc.

For the approval the demand of the merger of budget has been sent to state government, till then Rs 100 crore will be given to BEST by BMC, this proposal was approved in the group leaders meeting held in BMC on Monday. This amount will be given as a financial help for improvements in BEST.

The group leaders meeting was held on Monday to help the BEST overcome various financial issues. In the meeting, an MoU was signed with BEST recognised union. This agreement was signed between the BMC, BEST and recognised union.
