Mumbai : Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) launches a campaign named as ‘patient ek relative do’ after witnessing a huge group of relatives in the patients ward every day at the civic hospitals. The campaign will involve doctors explaining to the relatives that they are not helping the patients in providing better treatment as they themselves carry lot of infections which can turn fatal for the patients.

Central MARD states that the entire idea is based on the concept of patient relative awareness that by coming in big numbers, they are only proving a source of new infection. Dr Sagar Mundada, central MARD president said, “By limiting the number of relatives to two, it will help in reducing the infection through various sources and will reduce the uncalled chaos in hospital premises. Further, the doctors can focus on treating the patients rather than managing the relatives. Also, it will reduce the number of attacks on doctors as there will be less number of people at the hospital.”
