Severely bleeding daughter rushes out of house to alert neighbours; wife succumbs while kids are in critical state
Palghar : A minor quarrel turned into a murderous event in Virar (East) on Friday night when a man tried to kill his entire family and landed in hospital after a failed suicide attempt.
Krishna Tukaram Kadam (40) slit the throats of his wife (Kalpita Kadam, 38) and their two children, daughter Sai (10) and Atharva (7), after a minor quarrel snowballed into a huge fight between the couple. While Kalpita succumbed to the brutal attack, the kids are in critical condition in a private hospital.
The cops haven’t made any arrests yet and are thoroughly investigating the issue and the probable reasons behind the gruesome attack.
Kadam had been living with his family for the last eight years in Vishnu Vihar at Kargil Nagar in Manvel pada. Krishna is a vegetable vendor by profession while Kalpita worked as a nurse in Bhabha Civic Hospital, Bandra.
Sources confirm that on Friday around 10pm, a minor quarrel erupted between the couple when the children were watching television. The kids went in hearing the commotion after the quarrel became a serious fight. In a fit of rage, Kadam allegedly went to the kitchen, armed himself with a kitchen knife and attacked Kalpita. In a few seconds, he had slashed Kalpita’s throat and attacked both the kids. He also slashed his own throat and seriously injured himself.
After gaining consciousness, Sai rushed out of the house and alerted their neighbours who rushed to the shocking scene and alerted the cops. Kalpita was declared dead before admission and both the kids were admitted.
The cops confirmed that they have registered a case under sections 302, 307 and 309 and are investigating further.
