Mumbai : A 42-year-old man, working as a cashier with Reliance Energy was shot by four unidentified robbers near Bhandup station on Wednesday morning. The victim was shot in his stomach by the robbers who fled with 20 gram gold chain.

The victim was admitted to a private hospital where he is currently out of danger, police said. A case of armed robbery and attempt to murder have been registered at the Bhandup police station and the cops have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
According to the police the victim identified as Umesh Rane (42), was walking along the tracks towards Bhandup station at around 7 am to board a train to his workplace in Kurla. Around 7:10 am four men intercepted him and demanded his valuables. Umesh, who was scared, gave them his two gold chains, but he later resisted, after which one of the robbers took out a pistol and shot him in his stomach, police said. Soon after which the accused fled from the spot.
Umesh, a resident of Usha Complex, which is a stone throw away from the crime spot, managed to reach at his residence. His family members and neighbours immediately took him to the hospital in a car. The cops were also informed about the incident. According to the police, the pathway where Umesh was shot is often deserted.
