Mumbai: Wadala TT police have arrested 29-yar-old man for murdering his wife and later attempting to commit suicide. The couple, identified as Sanjaykumar Padihari (29) and his wife Suman (20), hail from Jharkhand and got married eleven months ago, but were having frequent quarrels due to the man’s alcoholism, an official said. On 21 May Wadala TT police received a call from a resident of Shastri Nagar, claiming foul smell emanating from one house in the chawl. When police reaches the spot and broke open the door they found the decomposed body of a woman on the floor and the man was lying unconscious nearby with injuries on his hand.
Post Mortem report suggest that Suman died of physical torture. On interrogation, Sanjaykumar confessed to killing his wife and trying to commit suicide by cutting his hand veins with blade. Sanjaykumar was arrested under various sections of Indian Penal code (IPC). He was produced in court which remanded him to police custody till 28 may.
