Satara: Tourists visiting Mahableshwar and Panchgani will now not be able to enjoy the horse rides as the Satara police have banned horse rides in these two popular hill stations of Maharashtra. The horse keepers feel this decision, just at the time of Diwali, is not auspicious. Now the Table Land in Panchgani and Venna lake in Mahableshwar wears a desolate look with no horses around.

Earlier, a tourist on horse back had fallen and died on the spot, creating a huge sensation. Police have considered all safety measures to ensure tourists’ holidays at these two hill stations remain trouble-free. Keeping the safety in mind, the police took this decision. Local politicians have, however, opposed the ban. They think the police have taken an extreme step over a one of its kind incident.
