Beed: District Collector, Amol Yedge of Beed has undertaken an initiative called, ‘jigyasa kasauti’ (curiosity test) with the aim to increase their general knowledge. This test paper was to be held on Tuesday morning and afternoon. In two shifts the children who had enrolled were to appear for the papers.
This was held in Kej taluka of Beed, 267 students appeared between 9.30-11.30am. At that time the students were doing fine. Later for the second paper held between 1.30-3.30pm, students could not bear the extreme heat and developed convulsions.
Twelve students developed nausea, giddiness and vomited due to severe heat. The centre head Shivaji Kale took the children to the primary health centre and the medical officers Kamble treated the children. Parents were distressed and complained the district collector should have understood the severity of the heat and should have held the exams later in the evening.
