Mumbai: The Shiv Sena Mahila Aghadi has launched a statewide initiative to review the facilities available at Maharashtra’s State Transport (ST) Corporation depots, with a special focus on women’s amenities.

The party’s office bearers and workers will conduct on-ground inspections and submit reports on any shortcomings via WhatsApp, informed Shiv Sena Secretary and Spokesperson, MLA Dr. Manisha Kayande.

The decision comes after the party observed that women commuters and staff face various inconveniences at ST depots. The Transport Minister, from the Shiv Sena-led department in the MahaYuti government, has approved this initiative.

As part of the inspection, Mahila Aghadi members have been instructed to visit their respective depots between February 28 and March 3, 2025, along with local administrative officers and staff. The review will focus on key areas, including:

Clean and safe restrooms for women

"Hirkani Room" for breastfeeding mothers and its condition

Accessible facilities for the differently-abled

Rest houses for passengers and staff

Secure and well-maintained facilities for female officers and staff

Formation of a "Vishakha Committee" for female employees and display of contact details

Availability of clean drinking water and hygienic canteens

The inspections, detailed reports with pictures must be submitted immediately via WhatsApp to 7977466085. Based on these findings, the Transport Minister, Secretary, and responsible officials will take necessary action to improve the conditions at ST depots.

This initiative aims to ensure better facilities and safety for women at transport hubs across Maharashtra, reinforcing Shiv Sena’s commitment to public welfare.
