In some cheerful news for an orphanage in Beed named Sahara Anathalaya Parivar, popularly known as Balgram orphanage, all seven students appearing for secondary school certificate (SSC) and higher secondary certificate (HSC) examinations have passed with good marks.
According to the Hindustan Times, five students appeared for SSC examinations, while two appeared for the HSC examinations. The students who appeared for SSC exam are Dipali Vade, Swati Gaikwad, Gaurav Malikar, Dyaneshwari Mali and Priyanka Lahane. Dipali Vade is the top scorer from the orphanage. While Swati Gaikwad secured 63.80%; Gaurav Malikar scored 63.40%; Dyaneshwari Mali secured 60% and Priyanka Lahane secured 53.20% marks. On the other hand, Shubham Malikar secured 69.88% in the HSC examination, while Abhishek Rawas secured 67.76% marks.
Abhishek Rawas, who passed his HSC examination, wants to Indian Army. His parents died when he was three and has been living at the orphanage since the past five years. On the other hand, Swati Gaikwad, who passed her SSC examination this year, aspires to join the police services and serve the society one day, has been living at the orphanage since the past one year. She earlier lived at Bori Sawant village in Hingoli district and moved to the orphanage after her mother succumbed to HIV infection. Gaikwad's father had died ten years ago when she was six.
Balgram orphanage was founded by Santosh Garje in 2004 and houses 85 children. Garje told Hindustan Times that the motive behind opening an orphanage was to provide shelter and education to orphan children. Balgram orphanage is spread across three acres of land, which has accommodation facilities, school premises and an orchard of 100 fruit trees.
