Mumbai: On the eve of the budget session, the Opposition Congress and the NCP leaders attacked BJP-Shiv Sena alliance government for failure to implement loan waiver scheme and rise in farmers’ suicide deaths. Their demand was that the state should apologise to farmers for failure in implementation of loan waiver scheme and instead should give them complete loan waiver till 2018.
Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, leader of the Opposition alleged the State’s loan waiver scheme for farmers has flopped. “The loan waiver was required to put a tab on farmers’ suicides. However, due to its improper implementation, the government has failed to stop farmers’ suicides,” he alleged.
According to Vikhe-Patil, during the BJP-Sena government’s tenure, as many as 3,265, 3,080, 2,917 and 2,761 farmers committed suicides in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively. The state has also misled people on the issue of Maratha, Muslim and Dhangar reservations.
“While the Maratha reservation has not been valid 100 per cent, the educational reservation for the Muslim community has not been implemented despite being considered valid by the court. Dhangar community has not been given reservation for the last four and a half years,” said Vikhe-Patil. He added while the issue of unemployment is getting bigger, the announcements of recruitments made by the state have been proved hollow.
In the 2018 budget session, CM Fadnavis announced the mega recruitment of 72,000 posts, but not much had been done till last year. The government has not even recruited a single teacher despite making announcements of recruitment of 24,000 teachers several times in 2018.
