As the number of cases in the city has been witnessing a steady drop, Mumbai added 1,066 new Covid cases and 22 deaths on May 30. With this Mumbai's cumulative caseload of Covid and death toll rose to 7,05,575 and 14,855 respectively.
The city as of Sunday has 27,322 active cases.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s overall daily caseload of the Covid-19 fell to 18,600 on Sunday, taking the state’s infection tally to 5,731,815. Also, 402 people succumbed to the viral disease during the 24 hours ending on Sunday, taking the state's death toll to 94,844. For the first time in more than two months, Maharashtra has added less than 20,000 fresh Covid-19 cases in a single day. On March 16, the western state saw 17,864 new cases.
Mumbai reported 22 deaths due to coronavirus on Sunday which pushed its fatality count to 14,855 as per data released by the city's civic body. Whereas, a total of 1,327 COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged on Sunday taking the recovery count to 6,61,226. With this, the recovery rate of the city was at 94 per cent on Sunday.
On Sunday, 24,548 tests were conducted, as compared to 37,607 on May 1. May 17 had reported the lowest count rate with just 17,640 tests.
The doubling rate has jumped to 414 days, while the weekly growth rate of the covid19 cases in the city has dropped to 0.16 per cent. “As unlocking will be gradual, he wants more people to get at least one shot of the Covid vaccine. Many options are being looked into. Travel of people will continue to be regulated and work from home will continue to be encouraged,” said a senior health official.

This is also for the eleventh straight day when there were less than 30,000 new cases reported. On May 19, the state registered 34,031 and 594 related deaths.
As of Sunday, the latest test positivity rate stood at 7.36%, the lowest since February 22, when a positivity rate of 7.12% was recorded. Total 34,861,608 tests have been conducted in Maharashtra till now, as per the data shared by the state health department.
