Nagpur: Depressed by his girlfriend’s suicide in April, a 19-year-old Nagpur youth hanged himself on May 11. He left behind a suicide note in which he apologised to his parents for taking the drastic step, saying he was unable to deal with the loss of his girlfriend.
According to police, Samyak Meshram, an SYBCom student was friends with a girl. The duo had a tiff, following which the girl hanged herself on April 5. At that time, the girl’s family had registered a complaint with police accusing Samyak of abetment to suicide.
After this, Samyak plunged into depression. On May 11, when his father had left for work and his mother and younger sister were out, he went into the bedroom and hanged himself. In the suicide note he wrote before taking the final step, he sought his parents’ forgiveness.
“Sorry aai (mother), sorry baba (father), I tried to control myself but failed. I am going to be with her. While she was struggling with death and breathing her last, I was unable to be by her side, so I am following her,” he wrote.
