Mumbai: The ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi partners on Tuesday received a shot in the arm after the Raj Bhavan Secretariat disclosed that the file pertaining to the nomination of 12 members in the legislative council is with Governor BS Koshyari and further information will be made available only after the Governor’s decision.
The Governor’s deputy secretary Prachi Jambhekar during a hearing on the appeal by the RTI activist Anil Galgali said the file is in Governor’s possession and necessary information will be made available after a decision is taken by the Governor.
The deputy secretary further said as the secretariat will seek an opinion on whether or not to share further information as the case is subjudice.
The Governor’s secretariat’s statement is crucial as Galgali had recently said the information with regard to the nomination of 12 members in the upper house was not available under the Right to Information Act.
MVA partners Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress have repeatedly said that the state government had forwarded eight months ago the file containing Cabinet’s recommendation for the nomination of 12 members in the legislative council. They have strongly criticised the Governor for not signing the file.
