Mumbai: There were high expectations from the interim state budget for announcements regarding few favourite projects of the CM Devendra Fadnavis. Surprisingly, some got only a mention, like the Samruddhi Corridor, the ambitious project of Fadnavis. This Nagpur-Mumbai super highway, was simply noted in FM Sudhir Mungantiwar’s interim budget speech.
Mumbai was ignored, with as usual got nothing from the state budget, except a proposal to construct jetties at Radio Club in Colaba, at Nariman Point, Mora and at Elephanta. Mungantiwar said that the land acquisition worth Rs 7,000 crore for the Samruddhi Corridor has been completed and the construction work of the project has begun.
Stating that under Sagarmala project, Ro-Ro jetties are under construction at Vasai, Bhayander, Kharwadeshwari, Manori, Ghodbunder, Narangi, Malvan, Borivli, Gorai and Ambawade. He said that Rs 26 crore has been proposed for the Sagarmala project. The FM said that aiming to give relief to Mumbaikar from the traffic congestion, Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation has focused on modification in suburban railway services.
MRVC has projects worth Rs 55,000 crores under completion in the Mumbai Urban Transport Project phase 3. The FM stated how the state government has given priority to enhance the public transport in Mumbai, Nagpur and Pune cities. “Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority has given approval to construct a metro corridor of 276 kilometres long in the MMR region.
Whereas in Pune and Nagpur, 141.06 kilometre long metro corridor will be constructed. In Nashik, the state has undertaken surveys of Lite Rail Transport, the minister said. Under UDAN scheme, the minister proposed an outlay of Rs 65 crore to develop airports in Amravati, Chandrapur Solapur including a new airport in Pune city.
