Mumbai: Amid Congress party expressing displeasure over the cancellation of 33% quota in promotions, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat on Monday met NCP chief Sharad Pawar. Monday’s meeting took place days after former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and NCP leader Eknath Khadse had separately met Pawar.

Thorat has termed it a courtesy meeting. However, sources said Thorat and Pawar discussed the wide-ranging issues like cancellation of Maratha quota, political reservation for OBCs in local bodies and the state govt resolution cancelling 33% quota in promotions.

Thorat met on the eve of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray-led delegation’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to seek Centre’s intervention for the restoration of Maratha and OBC quotas.
