Maharashtra: 23-year-old arrested for brandishing sickle, creating Tik-Tok video to scare locals

A 23-year-old youth was arrested by police after he brandished a sickle and created a video of himself via Tik-Tok to scare locals as a dada.

According to Mid-Day, the 23-year-old was identified as Deepak Aba Dhakale, a resident of Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Rahatani. The cops came across the video on May 11. The video was allegedly posted by Deepak on social media on May 9. Later a case was registered with Wakad police station which falls under the jurisdiction of Pimpri-Chinchwad police. Due to the elections, the police have issued prohibitory orders against carrying weapons openly in public places.

A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged by Constable M B Gengaje. Acting on the FIR the cops arrested Deepak, who has a past petty offences record. Senior Inspector Satish Mane of Wakad police station told the Mid-Day, “The video was made to scare citizens living in Rahatani. The accused is seen walking with a sickle in a public place. We arrested him. He claimed he did the video to create fear in the locality like the villains in films.” Cops have arrested Deepak under relevant sections of the Maharashtra police and Arms Act. He was arrested on May 12 and has be remanded to 14 days of custody.
