Mumbai : Maharashtra power generation company, Mahagenco, has shut operations at its 2,340 MW super thermal project in Chandrapur district due to incessant rain, which has resulted in a flood-like situation in the region. Mumbai gets its major power supply from this plant.
The 2,340 MW Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station (CSTPS) has seven units – four of 210 MW and three of 500 mw. –
“Incessant rain has resulted in a flood-like situation in the district. As a precautionary measure, we have shut down all the units in the region,” a statement issued here by the company said.
The district has reported an average rainfall of 268 mm, it said.
