Madarsa principal held for raping widow

Aurangabad : The principal of an Arabic residential Madarsa for women has been arrested on the charge of repeatedly raping a 35-year-old widow on the promise of marrying her during last few months.

The man accused of rape has been identified as Rafik Qureshi (45, native of Dhule). Police said that the victim lost her husband owing to a massive heart attack around 3 years ago and since then was wandering for job to meet both ends need for herself and her kids. She came in contact with Rafik Qureshi through the reference of a person known to her a few months ago. The madarsa chief offered her a job of a maid and salary Rs 3,000 a month. The madarsa management considering her conditions offered her a place for living on the premises of the madarsa situated at Kasimnagar, Padegaon. Within months the accused principal, who stays near the school, at a night entered the school and committed the heinous act. Later, when the woman threatened of approaching the school management and the police, the accused allegedly offered to marry her.

There are 90 girl students aged between 5 and 15 years studying at the Madarsa. Police officials  said that the statement of the victim has been recorded and the process of registering case is on.
