If the war of words was not enough during campaigning, political parties have now engaged in hostility. The Congress’ Mumbai North candidate Urmila Matondkar was recently taken aback by clashes between BJP and Congress workers. Now the Mumbai North Congress unit has sought help from some top political leaders to counter the hostility of BJP-sponsored groups.

According to Mumbai Mirror, Congress candidate Urmila Matondkar last week met NCP chief Sharad Pawar, who has promised to hold two meetings in the constituency at Thakur village and Borivali on April 27. Even Shatrughan Sinha will campaign for her on April 23 or 24. While this was just not enough, the Mumbai North Congress unit has also asked Urmila Matondkar to request MNS chief Raj Thackeray to hold a rally in her constituency.

Matondkar, 45, joined the Congress last month. She said she was in it for the long-term and wanted to fight against the politics of hate. Mumbai’s six Lok Sabha constituencies will vote on April 29 along with 17 others in the state’s fourth phase of polling.
