Mumbai: Navi Mumbai crime branch seized wine worth Rs 70 lakh stored in a godown in Turbhe MIDC area. On a tip-off, a team, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Tushar Doshi, on Saturday raided the godown and found the alcohol.
Police seized over 6,000 bottles of liquor. When questioned, the accused said the alcohol was bought in a customs auction, but failed to produce valid documents. When the accused persons gave suspicious answers, the trio was detained for interrogation. Police suspect the liquor was obtained to be distributed among the workers for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, said the police.
