Aurangabad: Eight persons were killed and five sustained severe burn injuries after lightning struck on two firecracker factories at village Terkheda in Washi tehsil of Osmanabad district on Tuesday evening. The victims have been admitted to the government hospital in Barshi and still are not out of danger. Police said that one Farid Pathan owns a firecracker factory ‘Prince Fireworks’ at Terkheda and one Pinnu Pathan at Sitewadi, 2 kms away from Prince. It started raining heavily around at 5 pm when lightning struck on both the firecracker factories leading to blasts, which claimed 8 persons and left 5 others seriously injured. The rainfall coupled with failure in power supply worsened the rescue operation.
