Mumbai: A 31-year-old labourer fell to death from the second floor of an Andheri building, while installing a scaffolding for plumbing work. Amboli police registered an Accidental Death Report and are awaiting the postmortem report.
According to police sources, Omprakash Saroj, a plumber, was working for a private company for the last year. Saroj, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was staying with his family at Goregaon (W). On Saturday morning, he was erecting a bamboo scaffolding on a building at Veera Desai Road, Andheri. During the plumbing work, he lost his balance and fell to death from the second floor.
The residents of the building rushed him to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. Amboli police reached the spot and registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR). Bharat Gaikwad, a senior inspector of Amboli police station, said, “It was an accidental death. We do not suspect any foul play. We have recorded statements of other plumbers and residents, who saw Saroj fall off the bamboo scaffolding. We have sent his body for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.”
